Amazon has undeniably taken a toll on its e-commerce competitors. eBay has definitely been impacted by Amazon’s rapid growth. On August 23, 2017, the Connecticut Department of Labor received a WARN notification from eBay. According to that WARN notification, the company will be shutting down its East Granby facility beginning on December 1, 2017. In total, the layoffs will impact 197 individuals. None of the workers are represented by a union.
Earlier this year, eBay announced that its StubHub business would be leaving its East Granby location with the intention of moving to Utah. The company’s lease will expire in June of 2018. The move was described as a “strategic business decision”.
The entire first floor of the office at 2 Gateway Boulevard is currently occupied by StubHub. The company has been located in the city for the past 12 years. That is set to change as StubHub prepares to relocate its operations to Utah. The relocation of the call center will impact 197 workers.
