On August the 14th, Erin Energy (NYSE: ERN) announced it was drilling a new well. The Oyo-9 well is being drilled with the Pacific Bora 6th generation drilling rig. It is located on the Oyo field offshore Nigeria. The company expects the well to take roughly 62 days to drill and complete. The tie-in of the well to the company’s FPSO for production commencement should take place in the latter half of the 4th quarter of this year.

Once the well is up and running, Erin Energy believes it will add as many as 7,000 barrels of oil per day to the field’s production capabilities. Erin Energy, which is headquartered in Houston, Texas, is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company. The Pacific Bora drilling rig arrived at the Oyo field offshore Nigeria on August the 1st.
