On Friday, it was announced that the former Secretary-Treasurer of UNITE HERE Local 26 had pleaded guilty in federal court to embezzling more than $100,000 from the organization. 60-year-old Henry Clay Green Sr. of Boston pleaded guilty to a single count of embezzlement from a labor union. United States District Court Chief Judge Patti B. Saris has scheduled Green’s sentencing for March 13, 2018.

From May 19, 2011 and July 14, 2016, Green served as the Secretary-Treasurer of UNITE HERE Local 26. The labor union represents the hospitality industries in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Green was in control of several aspects of the Union’s financial operations. He used his position to embezzle $171,455 from the organization and used the money for his own use.

After Green was confronted by union officials, he confessed. The charging statute provides a maximum sentence of five years in prison and three years of supervised release. Additional details can be found here.
