On January 3, 2018, Fremont Plastic Products Inc. submitted a WARN notification with the Ohio Office of Workforce Development. The letter informed the office that the company would be permanently closing its entire facility in Fremont. The facility is located at 2101 Cedar Street. As a result of the impending closure, the company will also be laying off all employees. The company believes that the business will shut down on or around March 5, 2018.

Fremont Plastic Products is a subsidiary of The Plastics Group. The workers are represented by a union and they may have bumping rights. In total, Fremont Plastic Products believes that 185 workers will be impacted by the closure. 126 of the impacted employees worked as machine attendants, while 13 were process technicians.
