On February the 8th, Glu Mobile released their quarterly earnings. On the same day, the game developer followed up the news with a new partnership announcement. Glu Mobile (NASDAQ: GLUU) announced they would be teaming up with Major League Baseball and Chicago Cubs member Kris Bryant. The cooperative effort will take center stage when Glu releases their new baseball-themed title. The company has already had success with the Tap Sports Baseball franchise. Kris Bryant, who was the 2nd overall draft pick in 2013, previously served as the title’s cover man.
The 25-year-old fan favorite will once again grace the game’s digital cover. Tap Sports Baseball has gained popularity for its beautiful graphics and turn-based player-versus-player gameplay. The strategy game gives players the opportunity to step into a managerial role and control their own baseball team. The company expects to release additional information about the new addition to the Tap Sports Baseball franchise sometime during the Spring season of 2017.
The launch should closely coincide with the MLB’s 2017 season. Bryant has proven to a valuable asset on and off the field. During the previous season, Bryant helped the Cub capture the World Series championship. He was also awarded the National League’s Most Valuable Player. Glu will hope Bryant’s new found fame will help to push their new Tap Sports Baseball title to new heights.
