Moon Ridge Foods LLC Announces Layoffs In Pleasant Hope, Missouri

Moon Ridge Foods LLC is a Missouri limited-liability company. It is a farm-to-plate operation that produces, processes and markets pork products. In August of 2016, the Missouri Department of Economic Development announced that Moon Ridge Foods had cut the ribbon on its flagship processing facility in Pleasant Hope. At the time, it was expected that the facility would create 160 new jobs and represent an investment of approximately $54 million over the next two years.

On January 11, 2018, Moon Ridge Foods submitted a WARN notification to the Missouri Division of Workforce Development. According to that letter, the company’s facility, which is located at 5305 Highway H in Pleasant Hope, will be temporarily idled. The company believes that the idling will be temporary and the entire facility will not be operational during this time.

The letter explains that economic circumstances made it impossible to provide greater notice. As a result of the idling, the company anticipates that 240 employees will be laid off. The workers are not represented by a labor union. No bumping rights or transfer rights exist. The company expects the separations to occur between January 11 and January 12 of 2018.
