In July of 2016, Publix teamed up with Instacart to provide Publix customers with access to same-day grocery delivery. Customers have embraced the service and now Publix wants to make it available to all customers. On June the 7th, Publix announced plans to strengthen their relationship with Instacart in hopes of bringing the service to all of their customers by 2020. At this point in time, Instacart and Publix are already delivering to customers in the following locations.

  • Florida – Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Miami, Naples, Sarasota, Orlando, Tallahassee, Saint Petersburg, Tampa, West Palm Beach
  • Atlanta, Georgia
  • Columbia, South Carolina
  • North Carolina – Charlotte, Durham, Raleigh
  • Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee

Thanks in part to the partnership, Instacart has managed to create more than 2,800 new jobs in these areas. Publix Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Laurie Douglas, spoke about the partnership saying, “We selected Instacart because we knew their approach and expertise would deliver a high-quality experience for our customers”.

Over the new five months, Publix and Instacart will expand the service to new markets in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia. By the year 2020, Publix hopes the partnership will allow them to provide same-day delivery to customers in all market areas. More details can be found here.
