Earlier this month, we reported that Spartech had decided to close its facility in Ripon, Wisconsin. Now, the company is announcing a similar move in Greenville, Ohio. On October 5, 2017, the state of Ohio received a WARN notification from Spartech LLC. The federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988 requires employers to provide official notice to certain government units or officials before a mass layoff or closure.

The WARN notice from Spartech LLC confirmed that it would be permanently reducing its workforce at the Spartech Plastics facility on 1050 Landsdowne Avenue in Greenville. The letter claims that a change in business circumstances will cause the company to layoff roughly 57 of the facility’s 130 workers. 51 positions are expected to be eliminated on December 6, 2017.

The remaining 6 positions will be eliminated on January 25, 2018. 20 of the impacted workers served as assistant operators. 8 workers were in maintenance and 7 were material handlers. The entire WARN notice can be found here.
