This week, the Michigan Workforce Development Agency received a WARN notification from Thrift Books Global LLC. According to that notification, the company will soon be carrying out a mass layoff and a plant closing. The letter suggests that a change in the company’s distribution model has led to the decision to permanently close its Detroit Processing Center. The center is located at 20509 Sibley Road in Riverview, Michigan.

In total, the company expects to permanently lay off all 51 workers at the location. The layoffs will begin near January of 2018 and should be completed by March of 2018. None of the workers are represented by a collective bargaining unit. 48 of the employees worked in the warehouse, while two were office workers. The full WARN notification can be found here.
