This week, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation confirmed they were committed to supporting the relief efforts of Hurricane Harvey by donating cash and products worth at least $1 million. Those donations will be made to organizations helping in the response efforts throughout Texas and Louisiana. To participate in the recovery, Walmart will be working closely with the American Red Cross, Convey of Hope, and the Salvation Army.

The groups will attempt to coordinate with elected officials and governmental entities to aid those impacted by the disaster. Walmart has made it clear that it will attempt to help the organizations address the immediate needs of the community, while simultaneously monitoring the situation to provide additional assistance in the coming days.

Walmart has provided relief aid for many years by donating food, water, home and personal products to those in need. Since 2005, Walmart and its foundation have donated over $60 million in cash and products in response to disaster events.
