Yanfeng is a leader in automotive interiors. The company supplies instrument panels, cockpit systems, floor consoles, overhead consoles, and door panels. On November 20, 2017, Yanfeng sent a WARN notification to the Michigan Department of Career Development. According to that WARN notice, a loss of business has forced Yanfeng US Automotive Interior Systems to carry out layoffs at its Highland Park, Michigan facility.

The impacted employees work at the 12775 Oakland Parkway facility. The company believes that the action will lead to the layoff of 345 workers. 20 salaried positions, 207 hourly union employees and 118 third-party contract positions will be impacted. The company expects the job eliminations to occur no earlier than January 20, 2018.

They will continue through March 30, 2018. An exact schedule has not been provided, because the layoffs will be based on customer demands. The hourly union employees are represented by the United Automobile Workers Local 400. Yanfeng negotiated a plant reduction agreement with Local 400 earlier this year. The layoffs are expected to be permanent. The WARN notice can be viewed here.
