On February the 23rd, Acer announced their brand-new air monitor, which is designed to give consumers the ability to keep tabs on their home or office’s indoor air quality. The Acer Air Monitor sports a very simple, yet sleek, design and possesses real-time monitoring capabilities of important air quality metrics. These statistics can be monitored through a dedicate smartphone application. The chassis also features a breathing LED light, which will change colors based on the current air quality. The Acer Air Monitor is also compatible with the IFTTT technology and therefore can interact with other home automation based products.

Since consumers spend approximately 90% of their time indoors, Acer understands that indoor air quality is enormously important. According to the World Health Organization, around 4.3 million people die yearly, due to exposure to household air pollution. The Acer Air Monitor will give consumers the ability to improve the air quality in their home and maintain optimum health. The device utilizes an assortment of sensors and is capable of tracking six key metrics.

  • Total Volatile Organic Compounds TVOC
  • Carbon dioxide
  • Humidity
  • Temperature
  • PM10
  • PM2.5

After the data has been collected by the Monitor, it will be accessible to the consumer through the dedicated mobile application. Also, warnings can be delivered through push notifications. Warnings can also sent triggers to other devices through the IFTTT technology. By synching the Acer Air Monitor with other devices with IFTTT, consumers will be able to take action to improve their air quality immediately. Acer has designed the Air Monitor for the home and office. The sleek design will easily fit almost any layout and the integrated light sensor will automatically turn the monitor’s lights off when the environment becomes dark.
