This week, the Ohio Office of Workforce Development received a WARN notification from AES Ohio Generation LLC. The letter explains that the company intends to permanently close two generation plant facilities in Ohio. The Stuart Station is located at 745 US-52 in Aberdeen, Ohio, while the Killen Station is located at 14869 US 52 in Manchester, Ohio. The company’s training center at 401 Starks Avenue in Manchester will also be closed. As a result of the closures, the company will lay off approximately 370 employees.
The company expects the facilities to be closed on June 1, 2018. 260 of the 370 AES Ohio Generation employees are respected by the Utility Workers Union of America Local 175.
