Alabama Defense Contractor Sentenced For Defrauding NASA and DTRA

On Monday, it was announced that a federal judge had sentenced a defense contractor last week. The Huntsville, Alabama defense contractor was sentenced on charges of falsely obtaining Small Business Innovation Research contracts with the Department of Defense and NASA. Judge Abdul K. Kallon ordered the contractor, Scientic Inc., to repay the full amount of the contracts with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency and NASA.

The amount totals to $250,000. The company was also fined $30,000 and was placed on three years’ probation. Scientic pleaded guilty to making false statement in order to obtain research contracts with NASA and DTRA in June. At the time, the company agreed to the fine and restitution.
