Armstrong World Industries manufacturers flooring and ceiling products. The Pennsylvania corporation was incorporated in 1891. Earlier this month, the company filed a WARN notification with the Oregon Department Of Workforce Development. The letter explains that the company intends to close its entire manufacturing plant in St. Helens. The facility is located at 1645 Railroad Avenue. The closure is expected to be permanent and it will result in employee terminations.
Those terminations are expected to occur on May 31, 2018. The impacted employees are not represented by a labor union. Therefore, no bumping rights exist. 22 boardmill technicians, 36 fabrication technicians and 14 mechanical technicians are expected to be laid off. In total, the closure is expected to lead to 136 employees being separated from employment.
The full WARN notification has been made available here.
