Ascensia Diabetes Care is a global company dedicated to improving the lives of people suffering from diabetes. The company was established in 2016 through the acquisition of Bayer Diabetes Care by Panasonic Healthcare Holdings. Ascensia manufactures a range of blood glucose monitoring systems know as CONTOUR. On October 25, 2017, Ascensia Diabetes Care filed a WARN notification with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
According to the letter, the company will soon be closing its Mishawaka, Indiana facility. The facility located at 430 South Beiger Street will be permanently closed on September 30, 2018. The company anticipates that the first employee departures will begin on December 29, 2017. The separations will continue through September 30, 2018.
