This week, it was announced that a Chicago podiatrist had been sentenced to prison on health care fraud charges. Dr. John Dailey was sentenced to 27 months in prison. The defendant was also ordered to pay $291,413 in restitution. The defendant, who is a podiatrist, was employed by Aggeus Healthcare. He was responsible for providing podiatry services to residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities in Missouri and elsewhere.
Dr. Dailey often stated that his patients had conditions that they did not or he grossly exaggerated their conditions to justify unnecessary services. Dr. Daily stated that patients were experiencing pain, had difficulty walking, and suffered from peripheral vascular disease when this was not the case. The defendant also increased his compensation by billing for procedures that would have required 19 to 28 hours of work in a single day.
60-year-old Dr. Dailey currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dailey pleaded guilty to two felony counts of healthcare fraud on July 6, 2017. Again, Dr. John Dailey has been sentenced to 27 months in prison. He has also been ordered to pay $291,413 in restitution to the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.
