On July 24, 2018, the CTS Corporation submitted a WARN notification with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The letter explains that the company intends to terminate all operations at its Elkhart, Indiana facility. The facility is located at 1142 West Beardsley Avenue in Elkhart. The letter explains that the termination is the result of a planned restructuring of the company’s global operations.
The company expects that the permanent layoffs from the plant will begin on September 24, 2018. Roughly 40 workers will be impacted by the initial layoffs. All manufacturing operations at the plant will cease no later than December 31, 2018. The plant’s closing will be permanent. In total, 103 manufacturing positions at the facility will be impacted.
Hourly workers are represented by the International Association of Machinists and Local 941 of the United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America International Association. Plant closure agreements have already been negotiated with both unions. Certain bumping rights will be available under the terms of the closing agreements.
