On September 12, 2017, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development received a WARN notification from Del Monte Foods. The American company specializes in food production and distribution. As of 2015, it was estimated that the company employed 7,800 workers. According to the company’s WARN notification, they will soon be ceasing production and permanently closing its facility located at 506 West North Street in Plymouth.
It is anticipated that the closure will be fully completed by February 1, 2018. Del Monte Foods Inc. believes that 107 full-time employees will be impacted by the facility’s closure. The company expects to initiate the separations on November 10, 2017 and they’ll likely continue until the plant is completely closed on February 1, 2018.
None of the employees are represented by a Union and do not have bumping rights. The company has agreed to provide impacted employees with a severance package, which will include outplacement services.
Also this month, Kindred Hospital announced layoffs in the city of Greenwood. The hospital’s layoffs were expected to impact 86 employees.
