On Thursday, April 19, 2018, it was announced that a former employee of Crescent Medical Corporation had entered a guilty plea to a charge of bank fraud. 56-year-old Gloria Harris pleaded guilty in connection with the theft of roughly $292,500 from her former employer. The announcement was made by United States Attorney D. Michael Dunavant. An indictment was returned against Harris in December of 2017.
The indictment explains that Harris was a data entry clerk for Crescent Medical Corporation. She fraudulently acquired $292,500 from January 2016 and March of 2017. The defendant stole checks, which were payable to Crescent. Then, she deposited them into bank accounts that she had opened in the name of the company without the owner’s consent.
Harris is now scheduled to be sentenced on July 20, 2018. At the time of her sentencing, she will face a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, a one million dollar fine and five years of supervised release. Additional details can be found here.
