Harman International Industries Inc. is an American company that specializes in connected products for automakers. The company manufactures connected car systems, audio and visual products, and enterprise automation solutions. Harman was founded in 1980 and is now headquartered out of Stamford, Connecticut.
On October 16, 2017, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development received a WARN notification from Harman. The WARN notification confirmed that the company would soon be closing its plant at 1718 West Mishawaka Road in Elkhart, Indiana. The closure will be permanent.
As a result of the closure, 50 employees will lose their jobs. All 50 employees have been notified of the impending separation and that the move will be permanent. The employees will be laid off on December 22, 2017. Harman explains that all other separations should be completed on or before August 31, 2018.
All future impacted employees will receive notice of their separation at least 60 days before their separation date. None of the workers are represented by a union and they do not have bumping rights. The full WARN notification can be found here.
