Intercontinental Milwaukee And Beechworth Windows Announce Wisconsin Layoffs

On November 7, 2018, Beechworth Windows submitted a WARN notification with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The letter was received on November the 8th. It explains that Beechworth Windows will permanently close its Ladysmith, Wisconsin facility on January 7, 2019. The facility is located at 1100 Barnett Road. The letter explains that the closure is the direct result of the company’s decision to stop manufacturing at that location.

As a result of the impending closure, it is estimated that 80 employees will be laid off. Hourly workers are not represented by a union. The full WARN notice can be found here. Also, Intercontinental Milwaukee submitted a WARN notification on November 9, 2018. The letter explains that the Intercontinental Milwaukee located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is expected to close in order to undergo renovations on January 8, 2019.

The hotel is located at 139 East Kilbourn Avenue. The letter explains that the company expects the hotel to re-open as a new Arts Hotel on or before June 1, 2019. The closure is expected to cause the termination of 115 non-union hourly positions on January 8, 2019. Associates will be given the opportunity to re-apply when the hotel reopens.
