On September 8, 2017, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development received a WARN notification from the Transitional Hospitals Corporation of Indiana, which is doing business as Kindred Hospital. According to the notice, Kindred Hospital will be changing the operational nature of its facility, which is located at 607 Greenwood Springs Drive Greenwood, Indiana.
The facility will be converted from a long-term acute care hospital into an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in partnership with Community Health Network. Due to the conversion, the hospital will close and all current positions will be eliminated. Kindred Healthcare expects the separations to begin during the 14-day period starting on November 7, 2017.
The closure and the layoffs are expected to be permanent. As a result of the layoffs, 20 respiratory therapists, 21 registered nurses, and 5 LPN-LVNs will lose their jobs. In total, 86 workers are expected to be impacted.
