During the last weeks, two corporations have announced layoffs in the state of Ohio. Kmart Corporation has submitted a WARN notification with the Ohio Office of Workforce Development. The letter explains that a change in business circumstances will result in the permanent closure of Kmart Store #04257. The facility was located at 17840 Bagley Road in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Employee separations are excepted to begin on or around December 31, 2018. These workers are not represented by a union. Therefore, no bumping rights exist. The full WARN notice is available here.
Earlier, Verizon submitted a WARN notification with the Ohio Office of Workforce Development. The letter explains that the company is consolidating and restructuring its operations in an attempt to maximize the utilization of company facilities and resources. As a result, the company will be closing its customer service contact center located at 5000 Britton Road in Hilliard, Ohio. The letter confirms that the action will result in the loss of roughly 95 jobs.
The separations are expected to begin on November 17, 2018. The layoffs will be permanent and impacted employees will not have any bumping rights. The full WARN notification can be found here.
