Magna owns and operates Lordstown Seating Systems. Recently, LSS submitted a WARN notification to the Ohio Office of Workforce Development. The letter explains that LSS will cease production no later than March 1, 2019. As a result, the company intends to lay off virtually all of its employees. The impacted facility is located at 1702 Henn Parkway SW in Warren, Ohio. The layoffs are expected to occur on February 28, 2019. They may begin no earlier than February 25 and no later than March 8, 2019.
As a result of the impending action, the company anticipates that approximately 120 workers will be impacted. The letter explains that based on the information the company currently has the layoffs will last longer than six months. If General Motors allocates future production to Lordstown Assembly, LSS may be selected as the seat supplier. That would allow LSS to recall a significant number of employees. If that doesn’t happen, the layoffs would be permanent.
