On January the 4th, Mohu, which refers to itself as the Cord Cutting Company, launched their brand-new AirWave device. The one-of-a-kind device will attempt to simplify the life of cord cutters, by combining video content from various networks and streaming channels. The wireless device behaves like an over-the-air antenna and an over-the-top television set box. With the over-the-air, OTA, antenna, consumers will be able to gain access to free broadcast networks within their residential location. Generally, this will include major networks, such as CBS, NBC, ABC and others.
The AirWave also doubles as a comprehensive streaming device. It works fluidly with a wide array of streaming networks and devices, including those listed below.
- Apple TV
- Amazon’s Fire TV and Fire Stick
- Roku’s complete lineup
The AirWave is the first to combine over-the-top and over-the-air content into a singular package. It provides consumers with the ability to watch content from their favorite connected devices, includes those mentioned above. Once the AirWave device is up and running, users will be provided with a user-friendly program guide, which keeps them up to date with what will be playing in their area. The guide also provides descriptions for each program with a maximum of 14 days of future content.
The antenna is completely wireless, so the user will not need a coax cable. The AirWave can be installed anywhere in the home, as long as an Internet connection is present. The device also features the innovative ClearPix Technology. This pixelation reduction technology helps to improve image reception for all OTA broadcasts to ensure the user receives the highest quality video possible.
Mohu was introduced to the public in 2011, when their paper-thin Leaf HDTV Indoor Antenna took the public by surprise. The company strives to provide consumers with access to the content they love at the low prices they desire. The Mohu AirWave is expected to be launch in Spring of 2017. The AirWave will first be made exclusively available at Best Buy for $149.99. For additional information, be sure to check out the company’s official press release here.
