Today, it was announced that a federal grand jury sitting in Denver, Colorado had returned an indictment charging an Arvada, Colorado resident with failure to pay over payroll taxes to the IRS and filing false corporate tax returns. The indictment explains that Marlene Seo owned and operated National Martial Arts Academy. From 2011 through 2013, the defendant is accused of directing deposits of income from her martial arts school into bank accounts, which were not disclosed to her bookkeeper or accountants.

As a result, the defendant is accused of underreporting the gross receipts of the business on corporate tax returns for the 2011, 2013 and 2013 years. It is also alleged that from 2012 through June of 2014, Seo failed to pay payroll taxes that were withheld from employees’ paychecks. At this point in time, the defendant is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
