On June 11, 2019, the Ohio Office of Workforce Development received a WARN notice from Parallel Education Division. The letter explains that the company anticipates that it will be permanently closing its Dayton facility on June 30, 2019. The facility is located at 15 West Fourth Suite 400.
The likely loss of the company’s Substitute Management Service contract with Dayton Public Schools is cited as the reason for the closure. The closure will result in the permanent layoff of employees who physically work at the Dayton office.
Substitute Teachers and Paraprofessionals who obtained assignments for Dayton Public Schools may also be laid off. These individuals may continue to accept assignments at other charter schools if they wish to do so. Some of the impacted workers are represented by the Ohio Education Association.
In total, 184 workers may be laid off. The full WARN notice is available here.
