During PayPal’s Q1 conference call, company leaders confirmed they would be implementing small restructuring efforts. PayPal subsequently released Q2 earnings just last week. The company topped Wall Street earnings and reported revenue exceeding 3 billion dollars. Nevertheless, some PayPal employees are now out of jobs. On Tuesday, some of the company’s Nebraska employees discovered that they would soon be out of a job.
PayPal has confirmed that a “small percentage” of workers would be laid off at its operations center in La Vista. The global operations center is currently home to more than one thousand employees. A company spokesperson insisted that the layoffs were “targeted reductions”.
PayPal leaders have been mum about the specifics. No figures have been released and it is unknown how many La Vista employees would be impacted by the move. It is also unknown whether or not the layoffs were targeting a specific part of the company’s business. A statement released by spokesman Justin Higgs reassured that “PayPal remains committed to the Omaha area and our offices in La Vista as we continue to strive to deliver great products and services for our customers through area employees.”
