On September 20, 2017, Positronic Industries Inc. submitted a WARN notification to the Missouri Division of Workforce Development. The letter was received by the department on September 29. As a part of a corporate reorganization, Positronic Industries will be moving the majority of its Mount Vernon operations to Springfield.
Workers at the 601 West Hayward facility will be impacted on or around December 1, 2017. The goal of the move is to improve operation efficiency of its manufacturing process. All departments at the Mt. Vernon facility expect for Molding will be relocated to the Eldon or Campbell Avenue facilities in Springfield.
All impacted employees will be offered the opportunity to transfer. Those that do not wish to be transferred will be laid off and those layoffs are expected to be permanent. The impacted employees do not have bumping rights.
In total, the layoffs could impact 97 workers. 52 of the employees are assembly workers, while 22 work in inventory and shipping. Finally, 12 of the workers fit into the quality assurance category. The entire WARN notification can be found here.
