The company was founded in 1836 and was incorporated in 1981. On January 15, 2018, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development received a WARN notification from Schneider Electric. According to the notice, the company has developed plants to implement a workforce reduction at its Peru, Indiana facility.
The facility is located at 252 North Tippecanoe Street. The company anticipates that the employee separations will begin on or around March 16, 2018. The separations are expected to be permanent. However, the entire plant is not expected to close. Impacted employees are represented by International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Bumping rights are available as clarified within the collective bargaining agreement.
