Earlier this month, the Silberline Manufacturing Company submitted a WARN notification with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The letter explains that the company will soon be carrying out a reduction in force at its Decatur, Indiana facility. The facility is located at 2010 Guy Brown Drive in Decatur. The letter explains that the staff reduction is directly related to the company’s consolidation and restructuring strategy.
All work at the facility will be transferred to other locations as part of an ongoing effort to shrink the company’s geographic footprint and to decrease the number of operational locations. Ultimately, this will result in the closure of the entire facility and the permanent layoff of all workers at the facility. Some of the workers are represented by a union. These workers will be able exercise their seniority to bump when a layoff occurs.
The first separation is expected to begin during the two-week period starting on January 28, 2018. The remaining separations are expected to be completed by July 2019. In total, it is believed that 50 workers will be laid off from their positions. The full WARN notification can be found here.
