Sprint has managed to stage a comeback and the company is taking full advantage of the momentum. On May the 9th, Sprint (NYSE: S) confirmed it would ramp up its presence and investment in South Florida. The new expansion project is expected to bring 250 new jobs and 15 new retail stores to South Florida by the end of 2018. Jobs will be spread out among several areas, including retail, operations and marketing. This year, new Sprint stores will open in Broward, West Palm Beach and the Broward areas. Those interested in applying can do so by visiting www.sprint.com/jobs. The company has also announced the launch of a new wireless store experience called Sprint Express.

These stores are located in Orlando, Tampa and Miami. Sprint Express establishments are designed as an initiative to expand the company’s retail distribution presence, while also expanding their reach into the local community. Sprint Express will place temporary pop-ups into various stores throughout Miami, Orlando and Tampa during special events. They’ll show up at grocery stores, concerts, and other community events throughout the year. Sprint has confirmed new investments and upgrades for more than 500 cell sites in the market.

The deployment of small cell technology in the market has also gotten underway. The company’s recently launched High Performance User Equipment, HPUE, is designed to extend 2.5 GHz coverage by as much as 30 percent for capable devices. These major improvements will improve the performance of Sprint’s network in Florida, while also addressing video and other bandwidth-intensive applications. Last year, Sprint selected West Miami area as the home of its Florida/Puerto Rico/US Virgin Regional headquarters in Doral, Florida. It relocated its office to another area in the City of Doral and expects to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 10.
