This week, two companies filed WARN notices with the Ohio Office of Workforce Development. The first arrived on February 22, 2019. It was submitted by The Genie Company, which is a subsidiary of Overhead Door Corporation. The letter explains that the company will be ceasing, reducing or relocating some of the operations at its Baltic, Ohio facility.
The impacted facility is located at 606 Ray Street in Baltic. The action is expected to be permanent. The company anticipates that roughly 58 team members will be separated from their employment no sooner than April 26, 2019. The layoffs will be completed no later than or around July 15, 2019. Consolidated Glass and Mirror LLC submitted its own WARN notice on February 20, 2019. The letter explains that the company will be permanently closing the Custom Glass Solutions business at its Millbury, Ohio facility. The facility can be found at 24145 West Moline Martin Road. The closure is the result of the sale of the Custom Glass Solutions Business. It will be transferred to a third-party.
The Vacuum Insulated Glass business will remain operational at the facility. It is anticipated that the action will result in the permanent elimination of 90 employment positions. 5 of the impacted workers are salaried, while 85 are hourly. Separations are expected to begin on or around April 22, 2019 and continue until the closure of the Custom Glass Solutions business is complete.
