On January 24, 2019, Things Remembered Inc. filed a WARN notice with the Ohio Office of Workforce Development. The letter was submitted in accordance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The letter explains that the company has been attempting to sell or restructure its business for several months. At this time, the company is unsure to what extent these efforts will succeed. The company does not concede that a WARN notice is actually required. However, the notice is being sent due to the uncertainty.
If the sale or restructuring efforts fail, the company will be required to lay off employees at its Highland Heights facility. That facility is located at 5500 Avion Park Drive. Based on information currently available, employees at the site expect to lose their jobs permanently on or during the 14-day period starting on March 4, 2019. The letter explains that the WARN notice was not submitted sooner because it would have undermined the sale and restructuring efforts.
None of the workers are represented by a collective bargaining union. Workers will not have access to bumping rights. The full WARN notification can be found here.
