On June 12, 2019, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development received a WARN notice from Walmart. The letter explains that the company intends to permanently close its Indianapolis facility. Store number 5406 is located at 8010 East 38th Street.
The store is expected to close to the public on July 12, 2019. All employees at the facility will be laid off effective August 16, 2019. In total, Walmart will be laying off 109 workers. The workers are not represented by a union. Therefore, they will not have access to bumping rights.
However, impacted employees will have the option of applying for open positions at other Walmart and Sam’s Club locations. The full WARN notice can be found here.
