Western Industries is a full service manufacturer of private label finished products, metal components and large plastic components. The company serves the appliance, outdoor living, recreational goods and selected industrial markets. On May 18, 2018, The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development received a WARN notification from Western Industries. The letter explains that the company will be permanently closing its entire production operations in Watertown.
The operates are located at 1141 South 10th Street. As a result of the planned closure, the company anticipates that approximately 85 workers will be laid off permanently. All hourly production and maintenance employees are represented by The District Lodge Number 10 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Layoffs are expected to begin sometime between July 16 and July 29, 2018. The company believes that the layoffs will be completed by October 29, 2018. The impacted employees will not have bumping or transfer rights. The full WARN notification has been made available here.
